Maybe they’ll have better luck this time: Shortly after they attempted to raise $115 million in an IPO of the firm in May 1999, Keefe Bruyette’s CEO James McDermott resigned and the filing was pulled. In December 1999 McDermott was charged with insider trading after he leaked tips to his porn star girlfriend Kathryn Gannon (aka Marilyn Star, pictured below). Now they’re coming back to the market hoping to raise as much as $100 million in a new IPO filing.
