Will it be on Ruth’s summer reading list?: More tales of Bernie Madoff,
Poor Ruth: If Ruth Madoff wants to buy something that costs over $100, the world’s gonna know about it. That’s because she now has to document expenditures over that amount and submit them on a monthly basis to liquidation trustee Irving Picard. And if she buys something that Picard thinks is extravagant, he can take it up with the judge who might hit Ruth with a penalty.
Poor poor Ruth Madoff. Literally. She’ll be giving up $80 million in assets, including her upper east side co-op. She’ll be able to keep roughly $2.5 million in cash. While most people could do well with that kind of dough, it’s gonna be kind of hard for old Ruthie to maintain her formerly accustomed lifestyle. (Cue violins.) It’s not even clear if she’ll get to keep all of that money. Civil suits and legal expenses could certainly eat up a big chunk.(Cue whole orchestra.)

Bernie Madoff seems to think that he should only serve a 12 year prison term.
We’re rolling our eyes and simultaneously gagging: Bernie Madoff’s lawyer, Ike Sorkin, has filed a letter to the judge asking for leniency and less than a life sentence. Apparently Bernie is feeling lots of remorse and shame now, and he’ll even talk about it at his 6/29 sentencing hearing.
Unbelievable. Someone put the SEC out of its misery. In a baffling move that only serves to make the them look even dumber, weaker and more pathetically useless than ever, the SEC bumblers let admitted Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff settle civil charges against him without admitting any wrong doing. SAY WHAT??? No wrong doing? Are they f*cking kidding???? In their infinite wisdom the SEC did ban him from Wall Street, but then again, since he’ll likely be spending the rest of his life behind bars after his June 29 sentencing, BFD. Seems like we’re not the only ones amazed….
Bernie Madoff’s June 29 day of reckoning is fast approaching where the Ponzi scammer will be sentenced. And 113 of his victims have written to the judge to tell him just how their lives have been shattered….
