So much for the NY Post’s story from this morning that a supposedly  cancer suffering Bernie Madoff is telling his new inmate buddies that he’s not long for this world.   The Federal Bureau of Prisons debunked that story calling it “full of inaccuracies”.    If he really is telling his new BFFs that he’s on his way out, so to speak,  how will they react to him when they find out that he’s been conning the cons?  Read the rest of this entry »

So did Bernie Madoff confess to his bilking his investors out of billions because he had terminal cancer, not much time to live,  and little to lose as a result?  That’s what the NY Post is reporting this morning.  And Bernie’s been participating in some Native American religious purification ceremonies.   He’s also switched jobs, now painting fences after initially working in the prison’s engraving group.   Most suprising, he’s hanging with the prison gays although his relationship with them is said to be strictly platonic.  (Cue the “Bend Over” and  dropped soap jokes). Major shrinkage: With massive losses last year (24.5% in its $2B Cerberus Capital partners fund and similarly bad results in its larger offshore fund) and slightly negative returns this year, over half of Steve Feinberg’s Cerberus Partners hedge fund investors have opted to take their money and run instead of rolling it into a new fund with lower fees.  It’s unclear how much investors can expect to get back, but it sounds like they’ll take a financial hit and  it could take years since the underlying assets are mostly illiquid.  They’ll still be paying an administrative fee while they wait for their cash to dribble out, but it won’t apparently be close to the 2% they’re accustomed to paying: Read the rest of this entry »

Sold! Dick Fuld’s Park Avenue crib, for $25.87M

Posted by WSF On August - 21 - 2009

Former Lehman Brothers CEO Dick Fuld sold his Park Avenue apartment, purchsed in 2007 for $21M, for $25.87M.  The buyer: Glenn Fuhrman, a partner at MSD Capital, the firm  that manages Michael Dell’s money.

Mr. Fuld and his wife, Kathleen, purchased the apartment for $21 million in January 2007. The full floor, four-bedroom, 6,200-square-foot apartment, which underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, was not officially on the market but had been quietly shopped for $32 million. The sale was first reported Thursday afternoon on the Web by the Real Deal.

Posted by WSF On August - 21 - 2009

At least one of the pseudonym bearing contributors to popular shit-stirring blog Zero Hedge (and we say shit-stirring in the mostly complimentary way) has been identified.  He’s said to be 30 year old Daniel Ivandjiiski who was barred from the financial industry last September for insider trading: Read the rest of this entry »

She promised the lowdown details:  The magnitude of his Ponzi scam may have proved he had huge balls, but  the size of Bernie Madoff’s  penis may have not been nearly as prodigious –  at least as described by Sheryl Weinstein, ex-CFO of Hadassah who penned “Madoff’s Other Secret”, a book about her affair with Ponzi scammer Bernie Madoff: Read the rest of this entry »

According to a new study, apparently the number of people snorting cocaine using our currency is on the rise.  Traces of nose candy show up on around 90% of bills tested (95% in Washington D.C.!!!!), up from 67% two years ago.  The least favorite bill denominations?   The cheap seats and the expensive seats: $1  and $100 bills.   The bills of choice:  $5, $10 and $20.  The results will be presented today at the American Chemical Society: Read the rest of this entry »

Will it be on Ruth’s summer reading list?:  More tales of Bernie  Madoff, the womanizer, are emerging as a former CFO with Hadassah reveals that not only did her family get screwed out of their savings, but she had an affair with him.  The book, “Madoff’s Other Secret: Love, Money, Bernie, and Me” which details Sheryl Weinstein’s encounters with Madoff, comes out on August 25.  We’ll be treated to pictures and according to Bloomberg “some intimate descriptions of Madoff”.   We’ll all have to wait to see if those are insights into his personality or his anatomy.
