More details emerged in the arrest of now-on-suicide-watch Anchor Point Capital hedge fund manager Albert Hsu who was charged with, among other things, attempted kidnapping — and it’s pretty repulsive / creepy.:
Hsu, 43, of New Canaan, Connecticut, is accused of using the Internet to impersonate the unidentified woman and post her address and travel schedule, according to Ricki Goldstein, a deputy assistant state’s attorney.
“The defendant set the victim up to be kidnapped and raped by a complete stranger,” Goldstein said at a hearing today in state court in Norwalk, Connecticut. Hsu co-owns Anchor Point, according to bail commissioner Muntiga Belton, who testified at the hearing. Hsu, who didn’t enter a plea, remained in custody after the hearing….
The case began Feb. 26 when New Canaan police received a complaint about a computer crime over the Internet, according to Sergeant Carol Ogrinc of the town’s police department. They obtained a warrant and searched Hsu’s home March 2.
In addition to the attempted kidnapping and sexual assault charges, Hsu was also charged with trafficking in personal identifying information, reckless endangerment and criminal impersonation. His Internet posting revealed the woman’s name, address and the train she took in the morning, Goldstein said.
“He’s thoroughly embarrassed by this,” Dawn Bradanini, Hsu’s court-appointed lawyer, said at the hearing. “Based on the lack of history of a serious nature, we’re asking for a lower bond.”
