Robertreynoldsfidelity001Robert Reynolds, vice chairman and chief operating officer at Fidelity Investments has been chosen as one of the five finalists being considered for the NFL commissioner gig….

Reynolds, who was a college football referee for 15 years, has been credited with helping engineer a turnaround at Fidelity’s flagship money management division in the last year and is well-respected in the $9.2 trillion mutual fund industry.

If he were to beat out the other four candidates and accept the position, he would need to leave Fidelity. But on Monday morning, Reynolds played down talk about his future.

"All speculation about who will be the next NFL commissioner is just that: speculation," Reynolds said in a statement. "Should the league decide to offer the job to me, I would have to consider it. But at this time, I have not been offered the job nor made any decision to leave Fidelity."
