Jim Cramer gets SEC subpoena in Overstock.com flap

Jimcramer07_1Jim Cramer revealed yesterday that got a nice little present from the SEC last week — a subpoena in connection with the snowballing Overstock.com stock manipulation flap –  which he tossed on the floor while he was live on the air… 

Booya! The Street.com and its outrageous founder and TV host Jim Cramer said last night they have been subpoenaed by the Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement division.

The summons came as part of the SEC’s investigation of charges that reporters colluded to collapse the stock price of money-losing Internet retailer Overstock.com.

Earlier yesterday, SEC Chairman Christopher Cox announced an internal inquiry into why the agency’s San Francisco office last week issued subpoenas to two other business journalists in the same case.

After a storm of criticism, the SEC on Friday withdrew those subpoenas, issued to two Dow Jones columnists, Herb Greenberg of MarketWatch and Carol Remond of Dow Jones Newswires….
